Before you enroll in a clinical trial. There are many reasons to consider being part of a clinical trial or research study. For healthy individuals, research studies provide an opportunity to advance science and medicine or to help those who are ill. For patients, clinical trials can offer access to the latest treatments and therapies.

Regardless of the reason, if you volunteer for research, you’re providing an invaluable service to humankind. You’re also taking a risk, and it’s important to weigh that risk against the potential benefits before deciding whether to participate.

By their very nature, clinical trials are experimental. Our job at New England IRB is to review clinical trials to ensure that appropriate steps are taken to protect your rights and welfare—to minimize the risks and promptly remedy any problems that might occur. Your rights and welfare are our top priority, and everything we do reflects that.
